Live and act

Zola grew up in Cairo from the age of eight , where his parents had moved. He lived there until he was 40 and played in amateur theaters. During the Suez Crisis , he left Egypt and settled in Paris.

It was here that Jacques Tati discovered him and gave him a bigger role as a technophile, stuffy-looking family man in his comedy My Uncle .
