Hans Billian

Hans Billian (born April 15, 1918 in Breslau ; † December 18, 2007 in Graefelfing ; actually Hans Joachim Hubert Backe  ) was a German actor , screenwriter , film director and producer . He was best known for the pornographic films he made from the early 1970s to the 1990s, including his best-known film Josefine Mutzenbacher - How She Really Was from 1976. His entire life's work includes around 35 feature films, 60 of which were made into films Scripts, 80 short films and several novels.

Life

As a teenager, Billian wanted to become a singer. In the Breslau Opera House, however, he was told that his voice was not yet fully developed; he should do his military service first. With the outbreak of World War II , Billian's military service lasted nine years. After the end of the war he first became a theater actor, as his voice, damaged by the war, no longer allowed a singing career. For five years he worked as an actor and assistant director a. a. at the Hamburg Thalia Theater and in Wolfenbüttel . In 1947 he got a role in the movie Arche Nora .

Since the future prospects as a theater actor were bad, Billian applied to various film production companies for the press office and similar tasks around 1950. His application to Constantin Film in Frankfurt am Main was successful; from 1950 to 1961 he was responsible for the German productions as head of production. In 1961 he had enough of this job, which made him “feel like an official”, and decided to become a freelance writer and director.

In the years that followed, Billian wrote and shot cheerful homeland and hit films such as So loves and kisses in Tyrol (1961), Übermut in the Salzkammergut (1963) or I prefer to buy a Tyrolean hat (1965). In 1967/68 he worked again for Constantin Film, this time as chief dramaturge, but was dismissed because he had offered one of his scripts, which Constantin had rejected, to the largest competitor, Gloria. In the late 1960s he began to write and / or make sex films , such as Pudelnackt in Oberbayern (1969), Die Jungfrauen von Bumshausen (1970) or The Girl with the Hot Mesh (1972, with Sybil Danning ).

Also at the end of the 1960s, Billian's girlfriend at the time drew his attention to the Swedish company Venus Film , which wanted to make pornographic short films (which was already permitted in Sweden at that time) . Billian introduced himself to the Swedes in Stockholm and subsequently shot eleven short films of up to 15 minutes in length for them. He wanted to create a second mainstay for himself because, in his opinion, the German film market "was gradually going downhill" and more and more film companies were going bankrupt. Pornography was still banned in Germany, but since he only shot in Stockholm, everything remained legal.

After pornography was released in Germany in 1975, Billian began making pornographic films in Germany as well. He first made several short films of around 20 to 22 minutes in length, such as Sanitätsgefreiter Neumann , Venus in Silk and The Landlord von der Lahn . In 1975, the first full-length pornographic film followed, which was shot both as a soft and a hardcore version and the first was called Im Gasthaus zum sharp Hirschen , the latter was called Bienenstich im Liebesnest . In 1976, the first part of Josefine Mutzenbacher followed - As she really was , Billian's most successful porn, which is generally also regarded as his best. The main role was played by Billian's girlfriend at the time, Patricia Rhomberg . The producer of the film was Gunter Otto , who had already made the Lederhosen films and the film series Let it itch, buddy and with whom Billian had already worked on one of his sex films. Five more films by Billian and Otto followed. Billian also wanted to make a sequel to the Mutzenbacher film, which Otto could not finance, whereupon Billian produced the sequel Die Beichte der Josefine Mutzenbacher himself in 1979 with money from the Bochum film company Starlight. In 1980 Otto brought out his own sequel, the second part by Josefine Mutzenbacher - How she really was . Both had further sequels to follow. Billian also made other porn films in the following years, such as Kasimir the Cuckoo's Glue (1977).

Billian shot porn videos for the Bochum-based company Starlight ( Tabu ) until the second half of the 1990s , but complained that the producers were trying to get by with ever smaller budgets, which also reduced the quality of the films. He also shot a video for VTO , but quickly fell out with Teresa Orlowski's then-husband and producer Hans Moser (alias Sascha Alexander). Late in life he appeared as a television actor in two episodes of file number XY ... unsolved (No. 262 and 283).
