Volker Prechtel (born August 9, 1941 in Hopfen am See ; † August 7, 1997 in Groebenzell ) was a German theater , cinema and television actor .

Life

Volker Prechtel studied education and worked for many years as a school teacher. It was only later that he found his way to a professional acting career via amateur stages. His unmistakable face with the distinctive nose was seen in more than a hundred film and television appearances, mostly in supporting roles . Volker Prechtel was also seen in numerous theater productions. He played at the Münchner Kammerspiele, Münchner Volkstheater, Kleine Komödie am Max, Berliner Volksbühne and at the Munich Theater for Children where he a. a. in Tischlein Deck Dich and Klaus Klettermaus could be seen.

Volker Prechtel became internationally known as Malachias at the side of Helmut Qualtinger and Sean Connery in the film adaptation of Umberto Eco's novel The Name of the Rose (1986). In the crime series The King , he played a bus chauffeur.

Volker Prechtel died in August 1997, two days before his 56th birthday, of complications from cancer .
