Josef Baum (* 1955 in Düsseldorf ) is a German actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Josef Baum completed an acting training at the Westphalian Drama School in Bochum from 1978 to 1981 and passed his diploma as an actor . He had his first permanent theater engagements at the Münster City Theaters and at the Lübeck City Theater . Baum had guest engagements at the Hansa-Theater in Berlin , at the Düsseldorfer Kammerspiele and at the Kleine Komödie at Max II in Munich . He appeared at the Feuchtwangen Cloister Festival and the Luisenburg Festival in Wunsiedel . He has also participated in several theater tours .

He played the classic roles in his field at the theater , although at the beginning of his career as a theater actor he was mainly employed in the role of the adolescent lover and hero. His most important theater roles were Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing , Petrucchio in The Taming of the Shrew and Iago in Othello , all by William Shakespeare , the Major von Tellheim in Minna von Barnhelm and the Templar in Nathan the Wise , both by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , and Estragon in Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett .

Due to his attractive and elegant appearance, Baum was also frequently used in social comedy and salon pieces , for example as Lord Goring in An Ideal Husband and as John Worthing in Bunbury , both plays by Oscar Wilde .

His career on German television began in the mid-1990s. Baum took on several continuous series roles, recurring episode roles and guest roles.

Baum was often used in family series , doctor series and crime films on German television . Baum gained fame primarily in the continuous series lead role of Dr. André Larisch in the SAT1 - TV series Kurklinik Rosenau , where he played a scheming doctor who dreams of a post as medical director and wants to transform the health clinic in a beauty farm.

In 2006 he took over the ZDF television series Forsthaus Falkenau alongside Hardy Krüger jr. as forest director Brandner , who is benevolent and supportive of the new district forester Stefan Leitner , again a recurring, this time positively designed series role. In 2006, ZDF also cast Baum in the television film In den Netzen der Liebe from the Inga Lindström television series.
