Józef Baum von Appelshofen (born October 12, 1821 in Kopytówka ; † March 11, 1883 in Vienna ) was a Polish politician , count , owner of the Kopytówka estate, a member of the Galician state parliament and Austrian House of Representatives .

His ancestors came from Saxony with King August II at the turn of the 17th century and were later Polonized. His grandfather was Josef Baum - the district chief of Bielitz and Teschen (1768–1772 / 1773), Wieliczka (1772–1782), Bochnia (from 1782), Stanislau and Rzeszów , ennobled by Maria Theresa in 1777 with the title “von Appelshofen”; his father was Antoni Baum, the district chief of the Myślenice district , a supporter of the Germanization of Galicia. From 1794 he was an advisor to the Habsburg government for the occupied land north of the Vistula, and from 1811 a baron .

Józef Baum studied in the middle school in Nowy Sącz and then in the military academy in Vienna. From 1844 he lived in Kopytówka. He married Waleria Dunin of the coat of arms Łabędź and had two children: Józef and Józefa. Józef Baum first became a member of the Galician State Parliament in 1861 and of the Austrian House of Representatives in 1873 , where he became deputy chairman of the Polish Club. In 1879 he was again a member of parliament in Vienna. He died suddenly in 1883 and was buried in Marcyporęba .
