The Heimatkanal is a German television station that mainly broadcasts Heimatfilme , German family series, Heimat theater performances and folk music programs.
In the 24-hour specialty program , for example, series such as Forsthaus Falkenau or Die Bergretter as well as folk music clips can be seen. A large part of the program is made up of ARD and ZDF productions .
Like the music channels Goldstar TV and the fictional entertainment channel Romance TV, the program is produced by Mainstream Media AG of media entrepreneur Tim Werner in Unterföhring near Munich .
It started broadcasting on July 28, 1996 as a specialty channel of the digital TV provider DF1 . On May 1, 2002, the channel was temporarily shut down and its program was covered by the Premiere Nostalgia and Premiere series channels . On August 1, 2002, however, the home channel started again.
The home channel is digitally via satellite used and is there as well as in the cable within the channel packages from Sky encrypted to receive.
In November 2012, the broadcast was switched to the 16: 9 format. New productions such as Die Bergretter and Der Bergdoktor have since been broadcast in 16: 9 format. Material originally produced with an aspect ratio of 4: 3 - which applies to a large part of the program offer - is broadcast in its original 4: 3 format by means of dynamic switching.
Since November 2015 the home channel can only be received via DVB-S2.
On October 16, 2015, the station was redesigned.
