action

Mrs. Henrich is an alcoholic and lives divorced from her husband. He has since remarried. The elder son Ulf of the couple's two children lives with his father. Originally, nine-year-old Holger also lived with his father, but did not get along with his new stepmother and came to the home. When Mrs. Henrich had completed a drug addiction treatment, she was allowed to bring Holger to her home. Now she has relapsed, but tries to hide her condition from the outside world so that her son does not come back to the home. Neighbor Dorus and his girlfriend still suspect that Mrs. Henrich is drinking again.

Due to the desperate condition of the mother, Holger takes care of the household and finances. Little does his mother suspect that Holger is secretly breaking into shops with an accomplice and thus getting the money she needs for her alcohol consumption. When breaking into a perfumery, Holger slips and falls into a showcase. He sustains severe cuts. His accomplice cannot go to him because the escape route is just big enough for a child. After an anonymous call to the fire department, Holger is found and taken to a hospital. His life is in danger. Captain Peter Fuchs and Unterleutnant Becker take over the investigation and look for Holger's mother. Fuchs immediately realizes that she has withdrawal symptoms. He refrains from questioning and arranges for the woman to be admitted to a rehab clinic. Mrs. Henrich asks that Holger be accommodated with her ex-husband. He reacts negatively, as Holger behaved so indisputably in his family at the time that his second wife Lotti suffered a miscarriage. In the end, his family had completely broken off contact with Holger and Mrs. Henrich and had not resumed it in the meantime.

Ms. Henrich receives a call from a woman at the clinic and learns from her what happened to Holger. Confused, she flees the clinic and Peter Fuchs initiates a large manhunt. Only after a while does Mrs. Henrich turn herself in to the police. She doesn't talk about the call. Lotti Henrich denies having made a call. Neighbor Dorus' friend did not speak to Mrs. Henrich on the phone either. The investigators take three things further: In an antique shop, two of the electrical appliances stolen during one of the break-ins turn up. They were traded in there by Lotti Henrich and she claims to have received the devices from Holger. He needed money for his mother. Dorus, in turn, has a small snack. Missing amounts were found in the cash register and reports were made, which Lieutenant Thomas Grawe processed. Dorus is now being targeted by the investigators because he needed money. He denies any involvement in the thefts. Finally, workers on a construction site found the thief's warehouse with the stolen goods from the break-ins.

Peter Fuchs sets a trap for the perpetrator. He announces to both the Henrich family and Dorus that a house search has been requested for the next day. During the night, numerous police officers shade the respective houses and Dorus actually drives to the construction site and brings various electrical devices into the hiding place. He is arrested, but only admits to having sold the stolen goods. He had nothing to do with the break-in in the perfumery. Mr. Henrich and Lotti appear at the police station and express the suspicion that Ulf was involved in the break-ins, since he has changed a lot since his brother's accident. Ulf, in turn, confesses to his mother the deed that he committed together with Holger. The investigators take him to the station, where he incriminates Dorus. He bought the stolen goods from them and also acted as the carrier of the goods during the break-ins. On the night of the accident, he did not care that Holger had an accident, but continued with the goods and left Ulf behind. Dorus is arrested. The events made it clear to Ms. Henrich that she had to get dry. Your doctor lets you see through the window into the room where Holger is lying. He wakes up briefly and sees his mother, who now wants to take responsibility for him.
