Life
In 1950 the trained car mechanic saw a theater performance for the first time with Goethe's “Faust”. He was so impressed by this that he decided to become an actor himself. He applied to the State Drama School in Berlin and finished it with success.
When Horst Schönemann was appointed senior director at the Senftenberg City Theater in 1954 , he took several graduates from the drama school, including Horst Weinheimer, with him. Together with Horst Schönemann, he went to the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin in 1959 , where he stayed until 1965. From here it went to the Volksbühne Berlin and then in 1968 to the Deutsches Theater .
