Georg Hirschfeld

Georg Hirschfeld (born February 11, 1873 in Berlin ; died January 17, 1942 in Munich ) was a German writer of Jewish origin.
Life
Hirschfeld, the son of a factory owner, began a commercial apprenticeship, which he broke off in favor of philosophical and literary studies. From 1895 to 1905 he was a frequent visitor to the Friedrichshagener poet circle . After stays in Munich, Berlin and Vienna , from 1905 he lived in an artists' colony in Dachau .
At first he wrote strongly autobiographical works in the style of naturalism . For financial reasons, he later began writing entertainment novels. His writings were banned in Germany by the National Socialists .
His brother Julius Hirschfeld, who worked in his father's shop, shot himself on October 6, 1898. He had composed songs for Christian Morgenstern , but they are now lost.
