Ernst Röhl

Ernst Röhl (born December 25, 1937 in Neu Ruthenbeck , Schwerin district ; † February 16, 2015 in Zepernick , Barnim district ) was a German satirist and cabaret artist . His books were mainly published by Eulenspiegel-Verlag in Berlin .

Life

From 1943 to 1952 Röhl attended the village school in Goldenbow and the central school in Friedrichsruhe . Then he went to high school in Parchim , where he graduated from high school in 1956. 1956 to 1957 he worked for the Parchimer district editorial office of the Schweriner Volkszeitung . Röhl studied journalism from 1957 to 1961 at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and was a member of the student cabaret Rat der Spötter , which was headed by Peter Sodann at the time . From 1961 to 1962 he had to go to jail with five other fellow students for “subversive cabaret play”. He then had to “prove himself in production” from 1962 to 1964 as a sawmill and foundry worker .

From 1965 to 1997 he was editor of the magazine Eulenspiegel with a short interruption . Röhl has worked as a freelance writer since 1997. Until 2003 he wrote satirical columns for the daily newspaper neue deutschland .
