history

The first traces of settlement can be found as early as the Neolithic Age . The first mention of Zepernick, then still Cepernik (meaning in Slavic as much as dense shrubbery), dates from 1289. Another document is the document of 1346 the Bernauer provost Gerwinius a donation from Zepernick to the Bernauer church. In 1375 Zepernick was recorded in the Land Book of Emperor Karl IV with 52 hooves (about 758 hectares ). In 1466 Benedictus von Hoppenrade donated his landlord rights to the Cöllner Domstift (Berlin).

The Thirty Years War left its mark; the place was looted and sacked in 1635. There is evidence of a first school around 1700. In 1835 a new school was built near the church. After the construction of the Berlin-Szczecin Railway through the Zepernick district 1841–1843, Zepernick 1888 and the district Röntgengental each received a train station in 1903 (opening of the long-distance tracks between Berlin Szczecin train station and Bernau with 22.99 km on August 1, 1842). Today's embankment was built in 1909/1910 in order to be able to use the route for long-distance and suburban railways. In 1913 the Zepernick volunteer fire brigade was founded.

The so-called Central Reception Home was located in the district of Röntgengental in Zepernick from 1979 until the beginning of 1990 - a GDR facility kept secret from the public , in which immigrants , resettlers and returnees from the Federal Republic of Germany were temporarily accommodated for the purpose of reviewing and preparing for social integration.

traffic

Zepernick has 2 stops on the Berlin S-Bahn line 2 : Zepernick & Röntgengental . This provides a connection to Berlin (Pankow district) and to Bernau b. Berlin makes it possible.

At the eastern end of Zepernick there is a junction of the Autobahn 11 (already on Bernau's territory) ; Bernau-South. This is also where Bundesstraße 2 runs along, which enables a direct road connection to Bernau and Berlin. About 4 kilometers south of Zepernick there is a junction for Autobahn 10 at the Barnim motorway triangle .

The bus traffic in Zepernick is very well developed. In addition to good networking within the town, there are also numerous bus connections to the neighboring towns of Schönow, Bernau b. Berlin, Schwanebeck and Berlin.
