Carla and Rudi Krause are chief inspectors at the State Criminal Police Office in Berlin, while their daughter Hanne works for the permanent detective service. The youngest son Benjamin gradually begins to abandon his aversion to the profession of parents and sister and considers attending the police school. Son Sebastian, who works as a photographer and evades the hustle and bustle of the family in which he lives in the country, falls out of the role. It can only be used for smaller research work. Although the crime stories are in the foreground, family problems are also addressed in each episode.

The series was a production of Ziegler Film GmbH & Co. KG by Regina and Tanja Ziegler. The scripts were written by Mathias Klaschka (episodes 1 and 2) and Elisabeth Schwärzer (episodes 3 to 6), Ulrich Zrenner was the director of the first two episodes, Christine Kabisch was responsible for the remaining episodes.

Bernd Stegemann , who plays a coroner in the first two episodes, is Renate Krößner's husband .
