The Far East Band is a six-piece German band that accompanies the reggae musician Gentleman and other artists on their performances.

Originating in 1997 from the Leipzig band Messer Banzani , their producers Pionear and Tom formed a backing band with the Far East to accompany various artists.

The first line-up was: Johanna Rebbelmund ( saxophone ), André Heyer ( electric bass ), Andreas Wendland ( guitar ), Marco Baresi ( drums ), Matthias Falkenau ( keyboard ).

In 2002 Peter Fisher was added as a second guitarist; Matthias Falkenau, who left the band for family reasons, was replaced in 2003 by Peter Hirsch.

The band has played with musicians like Fettes Brot , Tolga, Dr. Ring Ding , General Degree , Mono & Nikitaman and other German artists. Since Gentleman's Germany tour in 2002 they have been on tour with him and accompany him during his performances. In 2003 the live CD / DVD Gentleman and the Far East Band Live was released and they were also involved in his album Confidence (Marco Baresi produced the song After a Storm ). Marco Baresi, Matthias Falkenau and Peter Fisher also worked on the soundtrack for the film Almost Heaven (with Heike Makatsch, among others ).

There are many guest features on their own album Tough Enough : B. D-Flame , Tanya Stephens , Chuck Fenda , Gentleman, Suzie Kerstgens , Fettes Brot and Mamadee . The song The Call Up , in which Suzie Kerstgens participated as a singer, was released as a single in two versions: as a 7 "vinyl together with the song The Prince of Peace and as a 12" vinyl ( remix by Martin Buttrich ).

In 2008 they competed with Dean Dawson for Saxony at the Bundesvision Song Contest with the song Unfassbar , where they came in fifteenth.
