Peilomat is a three-piece German rock band . The band was founded in Hamburg in 2004 and named after the singer Florian Peil .

history

Peilomat met in April 2004 at the Popkurs , a contact course at the Hamburg University of Music . In the second part of the course, which took place in summer 2004, they decided to continue working as a band from now on. The name of the band comes from a play on words with the singer's family name, which was spontaneously determined as the band name before the first performance. The group had this first appearance on October 29, 2004 at a birthday party in the Cologne club Rather Hof. In autumn 2005 the band won the German Rock Prize , the young talent competition of the German Rock & Pop Musicians Association (DRMV). In the same year a demo EP with five songs was released on the Internet.

In the past few years they shared the stage with bands such as Silbermond , Reamonn , Revolverheld . In 2007 they could also be seen in the opening act for the “ Tokio Hotel - Zimmer 483 Tour”. On June 1, 2007, the debut single Großstadtkinder was released on the label Kickt / Universal, which reached number 97 in the German charts. A Germany tour took place in September and October 2007. At the Bundesvision Song Contest 2008 the band represented Rhineland-Palatinate , the bassist's country of origin, with the song Jenny , and took 13th place. In 2008 the second part of the "Großstadtkinder" tour took place, which also took the band to Austria and Switzerland.

In 2008, Peilomat and Elton released the song Allemann for the 2008 European Football Championship . The song was also the title track of a major TV advertising campaign for the European Championship and reached the TOP30 of the German single charts. In 2009 the band celebrated their five-year anniversary with a concert at the Kulturbahnhof Jülich under the motto "500 years of Peilomat" . In 2010, the band released a song for the World Cup with Elton .

In April 2011, drummer Henning Marien left the band. He was replaced by Tobi "Saikov" Danne, who was previously the drummer with Itchy Poopzkid , but separated from Peilomat, so that Henning Marien stepped in again for the remaining concerts in 2011.

music

The music of Peilomat is characterized by catchy melodies, partly polyphonic singing and rocking arrangements. In a Pro Sieben trailer for the Bundesvision Song Contest 2008, bassist Sebastian Wagner said: “We are something like a mixture of the Foo Fighters and Münchener Freiheit .” In the lyrics, the band often takes up socially critical issues.
