Selector

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Selector is called a DJ in reggae and dancehall music, i.e. someone who plays music stored on records or other sound carriers in an individual selection in front of an audience and mixes it with one another.

The term comes from the Jamaican sound system culture . The term deejay, on the other hand, which is written out in full in contrast to the DJ, describes someone who toasts - also in connection with singing. When the deejay only sings, it is called a singjay . The term selector is used exclusively in reggae and dancehall.
