Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning is an American science fiction film from the year 2012 by John Hyams . The film is a sequel to Universal Soldier: Regeneration from 2009, starring Scott Adkins , Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren .

action

John watches as his wife and daughter are killed by masked men. After waking from a coma nine months later due to serious injuries, he remembers that the murderer removed his mask shortly after the crime. In a photo of a government official visiting him at the hospital, John identifies the soldier Luc Deveraux, who is part of the Universal Soldier program. After his discharge from the hospital, John sets out to find his own identity and Deveraux to seek revenge. He is attacked by the Universal Soldier Magnus, whom he can successfully fend off. Through the stripper Sarah, he learns some details from his past that he cannot remember.

Deveraux plans to use its own army of Universal Soldiers to rebel against the government. John is picked up by an armed soldier for a river trip and thus arrives at Deveraux's hiding place. Deveraux has retired to the jungle to prepare his rebellion against the US authorities. John single-handedly kills almost the entire army, most recently Andrew Scott and Luc Deveraux. In the end, John appears to have taken on the role of Deveraux.
