Talk To Me is an American film drama from the year 2007 . Directed by Kasi Lemmons , the script was written by Michael Genet and Rick Famuyiwa .

The film shows the life of the Afro-American radio presenter Ralph Waldo Greene from 1966 to 1984. The former prisoner Greene works for the station WOL-AM in Washington, DC His girlfriend Vernell Watson supports him. After numerous listeners call, the station owner EG Sonderling gives him better airtime. After the assassination attempt on Martin Luther King , Greene calls the angry people to their senses. He later has his own television show.

Reviews

Robert Koehler wrote in Variety magazine on June 25, 2007 that the “energetic film biography” alternated between a brisk comedy and the delivery of serious messages at random. It was carried by the "playing with enthusiasm" Don Cheadle and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Michael Rechtshaffen wrote in The Hollywood Reporter on June 22, 2007 that Don Cheadle gave "another award-winning portrayal" and showed that he was one of the "most versatile" actors. The achievements of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Taraji P. Henson, Martin Sheen, Cedric the Entertainer and Vondie Curtis-Hall were also praised. The production design and costumes would make for a realistic effect.

Don Cheadle and Taraji P. Henson were nominated for the Satellite Award in 2007. The ensemble received the Gotham Award in 2007 . Don Cheadle and Chiwetel Ejiofor were nominated for the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards . The film received two awards at the Image Awards 2008 for Best Director and Best Screenplay , as well as nominations for Best Picture , Best Actor (Don Cheadle), Best Actress (Taraji P. Henson) and Best Supporting Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

Its world premiere took place on March 12, 2007 at the ShoWest festival; Several other festival screenings followed, including on October 27, 2007 at the Times bfi London Film Festival . On July 13, 2007, the film was released in selected cinemas in the United States, grossing approximately 4.47 million US dollars . The German theatrical release will follow on February 7, 2008.
