Desires of a Housewife - Menschen am Abgrund (Original title: When a Man Falls in the Forest ), also known as Menschen am Abgrund or Desires of a Woman - Menschen am Abgrund , is a US-American - Canadian - German drama from 2007 . It was directed by Ryan Eslinger , who also wrote the script.
action
The focus of the film is on a woman and three men, whose lives are loosely and artfully, but also downright surrealistic. Yet at the same time everyone is cut off from the world in one way or another. The film describes less a classic, linear plot than the rubbing together of the protagonists who stumble through life.
The architect Gary is married to Karen, whom he no longer finds attractive, which is why the marriage is in crisis. Karen responds to her frustration by shoplifting. Gary confides in his office colleague Bill, whom he knows from high school. He tries to save the marriage. Gary also tries to renew the friendship with Travis that had loosened four years earlier after an accident, which he succeeds after some tension.

Pete Vonder Haar certified the leading actors in the March 15, 2007 film Threat " strong performances ". The “ strange little film ” is not intended for everyone.

Ryan Eslinger was nominated for the Golden Bear in 2007. The film was nominated for the Canadian Leo Award for music, editing and production design.

The film was shot in Vancouver and in Burnaby ( British Columbia turned). It had its world premiere on February 12, 2007 at the Berlin International Film Festival , after which it was shown at several other film festivals. The widespread release in US cinemas began on August 1, 2007.
