action

The American doctor Taylor Briggs deals with the functioning of memory. Max Lichtenstein supports his career. Briggs meets the painter Stephanie Jacobs and falls in love with her.

Briggs treats a patient in the Brazilian Amazon basin . On this occasion he comes into contact with a substance, according to which events from 1971 appear to him in visions - a year before his birth. Child murders are shown in the visions.

In the end, Briggs discovers that the art studio owner, Carol Hargrave, is his biological mother; she kidnapped and killed numerous girls. Hargrave kidnaps Jacobs, who frees Briggs. During a fight, Briggs injected his mother with the contents of a syringe that was used to kill him.

Reviews

Peter Debruge wrote in Variety magazine on March 26, 2007, that it would be "mean" and "wrong" ( "cruel and inaccurate" ) to claim that one can forget the thriller. He combines elements of the B-films with the theme of obsession from "extreme Asian cinema" . The end seems "exaggerated" and could come from a film by Brian De Palma . The film would be missing big stars, which would reduce its chances with audiences in the United States.

The magazine TV Spielfilm 4/2008 wrote that the film did not stay in the memory. It was "produced cheaply" , Dennis Hopper, who played along, seemed "underchallenged" .

backgrounds

The film was shot in Dallas , Vancouver and Rio de Janeiro . Its production amounted to an estimated 3.5 million US dollars .
