Toradora! ( jap. と ら ド ラ! ) is a Japanese light novel series written by Yuyuko Takemiya and illustrated by Yasu . Based appeared on the light novel adaptations as Manga and Anime - television series .

action

The beginning of the plot shows the protagonist Ryūji Takasu ( 高 須 竜 児 , Takasu Ryūji ) doing the daily housework, which he does himself, as his mother Yasuko Takasu ( 高 須 泰 子 , Takasu Yasuko ) waits for Mirano ( 魅 羅 乃 ) in the night bar Bishamonten Kuni works and does not return home until late at night. According to his mother, his father died very early, but he shares with him his mean and rebellious appearance (the eyes), which causes him many problems. In terms of character, he has very little in common with his father, but is seen as a thug and criminal, which earns him a lot of respect, but also makes it difficult for him to make contact with his classmates. On the way to his first year at his new school, he is jostled by several students who, shocked, know what nothing else to do but give him all their money. At school he hands over the valuables to the lost property office.

On the way to school he meets his old friend Yūsaku Kitamura ( 北 村 祐 作 , Kitamura Yūsaku ), which turns out to be happy for him, as it will be much easier for him to convince the members of his class of his true nature. In front of the classroom he meets Minori Kushieda ( 櫛 枝 実 乃 梨 , Kushieda Minori ), with whom he is secretly in love and who is also attending the same class. A few steps across the hallway, he unexpectedly collides with the “most dangerous animal in the school”, Taiga Aisaka ( 逢 坂 大河 , Aisaka Taiga ), who throws him to the ground in a rage. Because of her small size (1.45 m), but quick-tempered nature, she has the nickname Te-nori Tiger ( 手 乗 り タ イ ガ ー , Te-nori taigā , dt .: "hand-sized tiger"). Nevertheless, she is a good friend of Minori and also attends the same class.

Taiga has a very negative attitude towards other people and doesn't hesitate for a second to hit them. She comes from a wealthy family, but lives in her own apartment in a high-rise building, which happens to be right next to Ryūji's small, run-down house and overshadows it. To Ryūji's horror, the balcony of his living room is exactly opposite a window of Taiga's apartment, which she uses again and again to get into his apartment. When she accidentally puts a love letter in Ryūji's bag and she fails to steal the bag from him at school, she enters the Takasu's apartment in the early night and tries to kill Ryūji with a wooden sword. However, he cleverly evades her until he is able to tell her that it was just an envelope with no contents. Despite her wild nature, he has to find out that she is quite a clumsy man and that she is letting her apartment go to waste. Ryūji, who is very crazy about cleaning , puts her apartment in order. Typically for her nature, however, she is hardly grateful for it.

Since both find out the secret love of the other through several coincidences, they decide together to achieve this goal. So Taiga Yūsaku tries to confess her love, which after a one-time refusal on her part turns out to be difficult. Ryūji tries to score points with the extremely determined and energetic Minori, who, however, full of joy in life, does not notice his affection at all. When Yūsaku's childhood friend Ami Kawashima ( 川 嶋 亜 美 , Kawashima Ami ) switched to school in the middle of the year, the situation worsened. Ami is a young model and is extremely friendly towards others - but this is all just a play. In reality, she is very arrogant and shows her evil side the first time she meets Taiga, which Taiga can not sit on. So both face each other as enemies, but Ryūji, Minori and Yūsaku also know of Ami's real character.

After many stories the five experience in everyday life, Taiga and Minori fall in love with Ryūji, which makes things even more complicated. Because shortly before Ryūji Minori wants to confess his love, he is rejected by this because she does not want to hurt Taiga. In the end, Ryūji and Taiga finally find each other. Ryūji wants to marry Taiga as soon as he turns eighteen and run away with her. They first go to his grandparents, whom Yasuko soon shows up and reconciles with her parents from whom she ran away because of Ryūji's father.

Upon their return home, Taiga suddenly disappears and the teacher of Ryūji's class brings them the news that Taiga has changed schools. Horrified, the whole class wrote messages to Taiga, who responded with a picture: A picture of a black night sky with a single star that Taiga had shot the night she decided to leave.

The final scene consists of a class graduation ceremony and the fact that Ryūji, looking at the facade of the school building, sees a taiga through the window of a room. He runs through the whole school building and they meet again, Taiga is wearing the uniform of another school. In the meantime it has become a legend among the students, as it is said that the Te-nori tiger brings happiness to everyone who touches it. This has been mentioned before in history, when it was assumed that everyone would have such a wish granted. At the very end, Ryuji Taiga confesses his love for her for the first time.

Conception

The title of the Toradora! derives from the names of the two main characters Taiga Aisaka and Ryūji Takasu . The name Taiga is pronounced in Japanese just like the English term for tiger , while the tiger is transcribed as tora ( ) in Japanese . The front part of Ryūji's name Ryū ( ) is the Japanese term for dragon , whose English counterpart is written as doragon ( ド ラ ゴ ン ). This is a reference to the Chinese dragon , who is the tiger's greatest competitor and archenemy.
