AT-X or Anime Theater X ( Japanese ア ニ メ シ ア タ ー X , Anime Shiatā X ) is the pay-TV broadcaster of the Japanese media company K.K. AT-X ( 株式会社 エ ー ・ テ ィ ー ・ エ ッ ク ス , Kabushiki kaisha Ē Tī Ekkusu , AT-X, Inc. ) based in Minato , Tokyo , which specializes in the broadcast of anime television series.

The program is mainly broadcast via satellite . But there are also regional cable offers .

history

On 24 December 1997 launched TV Tokyo in cooperation with the subsidiary of TV Tokyo Medianet a TV program on the DirecTV -Satellitenservice. On November 30, 1998, the program was expanded to include Bandai's program for children Otakku Beam ( お た っ く ビ ー ム ), which previously ran on the SkyPort satellite service . In 1999 the first in-house production DIAMOND TIME started .

On June 26, 2000, the company KK AT-X was founded, which is majority owned by TV Tokyo and TV Tokyo Medianet, and has been operating the station ever since. On October 1st, 2000 the broadcaster switched the satellite service from DirecTV to Sky PerfecTV! . In July 2002, Sky PerfecTV came out! 2 (today: Sky PerfectTV! E2).

In May 2001, beamed AT-X with Figure 17: Tsubasa & Hikaru ( フィギュア17つばさ&ヒカル from) its first image created under its own participation, anime series.

On January 26, 2004 and v12. June 2005 started the online shopping websites AT-X SHOP and AT-X SHOP Mobile of the station, on which mainly anime-related goods are offered.

On October 1, 2009, the HD channel AT-X HD! on Sky PerfecTV! HD.

Fields of activity

The company has specialized in the broadcasting of animated films and series, and as a pay TV channel, unlike other channels, it also broadcasts these more often uncensored. It deals primarily with licenses for its own and third-party productions to operate its television offering. AT-X was involved in the production of many anime series. As a television broadcaster, AT-X is also active in the advertising industry.
