Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot is a German fairy tale film from 1984. It is based on the Grimm fairy tale Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot .

action

In a kingdom that has a large forest, there lives a little dwarf who believes that all humans are greedy and jealous.

One day the old king sets up a deer hunt. His two sons ride through the great forest, but the game keeps escaping them. Nevertheless, Prince Engelbert does not want to give up. When the hunt for the deer lures him deeper and deeper into the forest, his horse shies away and a little dwarf stands in front of him and says that the kingdom belongs to him and that he should disappear. The prince, however, replies that this kingdom belongs to his father and says that he should go away. The dwarf then drops the prince from his horse and turns him into a bear.

When the prince gets to the good dwarfs one day, they tell him that he can break the spell if he finds two people who have a good nature. The bear goes on a search until he comes to a house with two rose trees, where the two sisters Snow White and Rose Red live with their mother. They take him in their house. When the evil dwarf notices that the sisters are good at being, he forges a plan: he lures the bear out of the house, then tries to simulate a misfortune in order to arouse the pity of Snow White and Rose Red - this is what he tries to do three times, and each time the girls helped him without accepting any reward from him. When the dwarf loses his power, the bear turns back into the prince.

Prince Engelbert marries Snow White; Prince Diethelm marries Rosenrot.

criticism

The film-dienst wrote: “Two kind-hearted sisters redeem a prince who has been turned from an evil dwarf into a bear through their selflessness. Filming of the fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm, which seamlessly ties in with Fritz Genschow's classic fairy tale films from the 1950s. The patina that is now on the film shouldn't bother the youngest moviegoers in particular, as the straightforward staging means that they? You? Recognize fairy tales. "
