Klaus Fischer-Dieskau

Klaus Fischer-Dieskau (born January 2, 1921 in Berlin ; † December 19, 1994 there ) was a German church musician and choir director. He was the brother of the singer Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and a descendant of the hymnologist Albert Fischer .

In 1953 Fischer-Dieskau founded the Berlin Hugo Distler Choir, of which he remained director until 1989. After 1969 he was briefly acting director of the State and Cathedral Choir of Berlin alongside Karl-Heinz Kaiser and Christian Schlicke .

Klaus Fischer-Dieskau died in Berlin in 1994 at the age of 73. He found his final resting place in the Zehlendorf cemetery .

Honors

On October 1, 1989, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin .
