Quiqueck & Hämat - Proll Out is a German independent computer animation film that Thomas Zeug - with the exception of the music and various synchronizations - produced entirely himself. The film, which was also released in 3D , contains elements of the comedy and science fiction genres .

action

Quiqueck and Hemat are two aliens from the planet Quiquill. You have been entrusted by the Nebulan League, an interstellar association of several worlds, with the mission of observing the planet and its inhabitants in orbit of Earth .

While Quiqueck cultivates a lazy and irresponsible leadership style as a captain, Hämat as the first officer usually has to do the unpleasant work on her ship, the QSS bulldock, and is usually annoyed accordingly. The battered condition of their ship doesn't really contribute to a non-argument environment.

As a result of one of their myriad disagreements, they overlook a space fleet warning of Prollians, a rebellious and belligerent race of rioting Cyclops . There is a fight between the two ships, in which the earth is affected in wild chases and action-packed battles. Ultimately, they can outsmart and defeat the Prollians. With their badly damaged ship, Quiqueck and Hämat set off for their home planet.

In a scene after the credits, Hämat opens the airlock of the spaceship so that the resulting mess is "disposed of" by the suction . Quiqueck, which the suction hits unexpectedly, is carried away and remains trapped in the lock, half in space and half in the ship.

production

The film was mostly produced by Thomas Zeug in his spare time and is based on a radio play series that stuff developed for a web radio station. The entire production took almost five years. As is usual with computer animation films, the dialogues were recorded before the actual animation. As in the audio series, the eponymous heroes were spoken by the creator himself. The well-known voice actor Santiago Ziesmer was won over for the voices of the bad Prollians .

The computer-animated scenes, which were also rendered in 3D, were created in Cinema 4D and post-processed with Adobe After Effects . Stuff that had previously made animation short films taught itself the necessary know-how over time.

Stuff said he “likes to do [the movie]. Anyone who has ever lived creatively [...] who knows what it is like: There is [...] passion in it and you can't just stop with that. "

Composer Florian Linckus worked on the film music for several months. In the process, both pro and antagonists were given their own musical themes that recur regularly in the film.

publication

During the production of the actual film, several teasers were published about the project that show the main characters in different situations. These scenes do not appear in the finished film and were specially produced for the teaser.

In several making-ofs that stuff posted on YouTube , among others, during the production period , the maker gives an insight into various areas of the making of the film.

The film premiered on March 21, 2013 in Munich and was then shown at several screenings, including at FedCon and some film festivals across Germany, partly in 3D. In 2014 Proll Out was released on DVD and Blu-ray. There is a specially made Bavarian synchronization of the film on the discs .

Proll Out has been available free of charge on YouTube in a special edition since March 21, 2016 .

continuation

The plot of the film is continued in the animation series 2 Aliens (since 2014). The series was conceived on 10 episodes that are shown at film festivals. So far, 5 episodes have been completed (as of March 2017). Thomas Zeug , Benjamin Huber and Florian Linckus assume the same positions as in the film.
