The (milk) cow

Hesat is an ancient Egyptian cow goddess. Already in the Old Kingdom , an independent cult is documented for her within the framework of the priestly title Hem-netjer ( Servant of God) , since as mother goddess she gave birth to the king ( Pharaoh ) and then nourished him. Hesat was also the provider of the deceased or the deceased king.

From the New Kingdom onwards, Hesat was regarded as the manifestation of the goddess Hathor ; in the Greco-Roman times she also embodied the goddess Isis . She was seen as the wife of Re and mother of Anubis .
