Memory is a German crime film from 2002. The television film was released as the 240th episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and was produced by NDR under the direction of Hans Erich Viet . Chief Detective Jens Hinrichs ( Uwe Steimle ) is investigating his 18th case. For his colleague Holm Diekmann ( Jürgen Schmidt ) it is the 4th regular assignment in Schwerin .

action

After an attack was carried out on Judge Gotthold, the detective chief inspectors Hinrichs and Diekmann are investigating. The victim suspects an act of revenge by right-wing extremists. Strikingly, the girlfriend of a skinhead he has convicted is doing community hours near the court and is a possible perpetrator. Even stranger is the fact that after checking the projectile, a weapon is identified that was used in a murder years ago and is in the police evidence room. The commissioners secure the rifle and have another shot match made. It turns out that the murder at the time could not have been committed with this gun.

Hinrichs and Diekmann have the relevant files looked up and come across a case from 1990. At that time, the chairman of a hunting society, Professor Werner Müller, was shot with a hunting rifle. Culprit was the ex- Stasi - Major Rolf Heidenreich, who is also a member of the hunting party was and still is after the sentencing in detention. It can be seen from the files that Judge Gotthold had also pronounced the verdict here.

A few days later, Chief Public Prosecutor Ratz was also shot. Again from the same weapon that was used in the attack on the judge. So it is certain that in 1990 the wrong rifle was seized as the murder weapon and that the wrong perpetrator may also be in prison. Diekmann is determined to investigate and clear up this old case again. A first conversation with Rolf Heidenreich brings little new knowledge. So Diekmann relies on the expert from back then: Helmich. He is now a lecturer at the police school in Hamburg. When questioned, he easily admits that he may have made a mistake. Hinrichs is suspicious of all of this. He suspects a real "stasi conspiracy" that needed a scapegoat with Heidenreich.

After Werner Müller's death, Günther Dzieran took over the chairmanship of the hunting company. The commissioners have him show them all the hunting weapons and confiscate a similar rifle as the alleged murder weapon. When it turns out that this rifle belongs to Senior Public Prosecutor Ratz, the commissioners arrest him. He denies having shot anyone, but admits that he influenced the expert Helmich because he was then convinced of Heidenreich's guilt. For fear of his personal career, the latter did not dare to contradict the chief public prosecutor and skipped the report accordingly.

Rolf Heidenreich has now been rehabilitated and the search for the real perpetrator and the shooter of the latest attacks remains. Günther Dzieran appears to be suspicious, who could get hold of all rifles at any time and thus choose Ratz's, because this was the most inconspicuous. According to the chief prosecutor, Dzieran was extremely jealous of Müller because his wife Loni was having an affair with him. Despite these circumstantial evidence, nothing can be proven to Dzieran. The shots fired at the judge and the public prosecutor cannot be clearly assigned either. However, since Hinrichs notes that Dzieran's wife and the daughter of the victim at the time know each other well, it is obvious that Loni Dzieran fired the shots to "help the judiciary".

background

Jürgen Schmidt investigates in his fourth case. He appeared for the first time as Robert Dieckmann in Die Macht und Ihr Preis alongside Uwe Steimle in the police call as a representative for the sick Kurt Böwe . In Seestück mit Mädchen he became Hinrich's official partner and his character was renamed Holm Diekmann.

criticism

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and said: "A tortuous case from the German-German past, handled with gentle irony."
