occupation

The poor children of Schwerin is a German crime film by Christine Hartmann from 2009. The television film was released as the 302nd episode of the film series Polizeiruf 110 . Commissioner Hinrichs is investigating his 31st case. It is the 7th case for his colleague Tellheim. For both investigators it is immediately their last case.

action

Boris Schuldzeck is found hanged in a disused factory hall. The investigating commissioners Jens Hinrichs and Markus Tellheim quickly realized that a suicide was being faked, as there was neither a chair nor a ladder that Schuldzeck had to climb onto. The autopsy later revealed that the victim was forcibly suffocated.

Schuldzeck was long-term unemployed and did business with the Eastern European non-ferrous metal mafia. He had helpers like Kurt Ratgaus, Rudi Matschke and Harry Bolten, who tried to improve their low income by stealing junk. Ratgaus' children in particular suffer from the poverty of their families. The eleven-year-old son Mika tries to help his parents and when he was looking for his father one night, he unconsciously saw the perpetrators. They find out and the boy is in great danger. He is kidnapped, whereupon Kurt Ratgaus breaks his silence and gives evidence to the police. Jan Körner, a former work colleague of the victim, arranged the jobs for him, Matschke and Bolten. That evening, Körner had brought her customers, two Russians, to Boris in the warehouse because there were problems with payment. By the time he and Bolten joined, Boris was already dead.

In cooperation with Körner, Ratgaus and Bolten, the investigators set a trap for the Russians. In order not to endanger Mika's life, they respond to the kidnappers' request that Ratgaus and Bolten bring a load of non-ferrous metal including a truck across the border. Since the police are secretly monitoring the whole thing, they can strike at the right moment, free Mika and arrest the two perpetrators.

According to Tellheim, Mika should be entitled to part of the reward that was offered for smashing the metal mafia, as he played a major role in catching the perpetrators - a small ray of hope for the poor children of Schwerin.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv comes to the conclusion: “The 'Polizeiruf 110' from Schwerin has been around for 15 years. A long time in the fast moving television business. But now it's over. The quality of the series belonged to the bitter end of the best and most unusual that crime television has to offer. ”The last case“ 'The poor children of Schwerin' is a crime thriller and social drama in one. The film reflects the mood in the region and shows the daily struggle for survival. A good thriller with a strong Fritzi Haberlandt and small dramaturgical weaknesses. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best possible rating (thumbs up) and wrote: “A strong exit from a strong team”.
