The Strandclique was a German television series that was produced from 1998 to 1999 as an offshoot of Gegen den Wind . The first season of the series was broadcast with 13 episodes from February 22 to May 31, 1999, the second season with 26 episodes from June 13 to July 31, 2002 at 6:55 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., respectively.
This series was also mainly produced on the beach in Sankt Peter-Ording , but moved the location to Vietnam for a few weeks (season 2). Four 23-minute episodes were produced there from March 6 to March 28, 2000. The previous episodes of the second season were filmed until September 23, 1999. The first season was shot in the summer of 1998.
In contrast to Gegen den Wind , Die Strandclique has five instead of two protagonists. The center of the action is a youth camp on the beach in Sankt Peter-Ording.
action
Five friends, who have turned their backs on society and its pressure to perform in a certain way, are trying to create a new perspective on life for themselves and other young people on the beach in Sankt Peter-Ording in the form of a youth camp, the pile building. The leader of the clique is Mark, who, after traveling around the world for several years, suddenly finds everything changed in his hometown: his father has died, his brother Lukas and his girlfriend Ann have not yet forgiven him for the sudden disappearance, and his mother cannot cope with the new situation. Rai has settled in a camper next to his old refuge, the stilt house . In order to prove something to himself, he took over the surf school on the beach after he had not been able to assert himself as a self-employed cook. In addition, Viola, the daughter of rich diplomats, lives in a luxury tent on the beach and is working on her thesis in tourism there. Mark's old friend Björn still has the dream of restoring his two-man yacht and sailing around the world with it. However, he is currently working as a carpenter. Ann, Mark's friend, is a zookeeper in a seal station and is otherwise very close to animals and nature. All five dream of freedom and self-fulfillment and try to implement this dream together in the form of a youth camp.
The aim of their youth camp is to offer young people alternative holiday and leisure options and to realize a free life on the beach. Everyone tries to bring their own abilities and strengths with optimism but also a lot of energy, so that small disputes are inevitable. Nevertheless, the collaboration brings mainly educational experiences for everyone: The beach clique learns to take responsibility and still have fun, to follow rules, but still feel free.
