Forever Spring is a German television film from the spring television series by Michael Karen . It was broadcast for the first time on June 19, 2011 on ZDF and is the opening film for the series.

The film tells the story of Katja Baumann, played by Simone Thomalla , who leaves her job and even Munich for family reasons to help families in emergency situations as a village helper in the small Bavarian village of Frühling. At the same time, with her empathetic manner, she tries to carry spring into people's hearts.

action

Katja Baumann is a popular nurse in a Munich hospital. When she met little Tim Lechner at the end of the day, she had no idea that this was going to be the beginning of a completely new phase of life for her. She has just submitted all of her annual leave to her employer to go on a six-week trip with her husband Peter. After this suggests that he would like to postpone the trip for professional reasons, Katja spontaneously decides to help the cancer patient Inge Lechner. The woman is a single parent and, in addition to Tim, has two other children who are looked after by a village helper during her absence, but with whom the children do not get along.

When Katja reaches the small village of Frühling , she meets the vet Mark Weber, who has just come from Leipzig and wants to settle here. With his help, after a long search, she finds the Lechner's farm, where she meets the village helper Britta Finkbeiner. She reports on her varied work and the problems she has with the Lechner children. Katja had already met Tim when he visited his mother in the hospital. Even then, he trusted her and asked her to stay with them. As the fate of the Lechners is very close to Katja, she decides to sacrifice her vacation and help the family.

Village helper Britta Finkbeiner is initially skeptical and a little ignored and doubts Katja's competence in running a farm, but she complies with Inge Lechner's request and leaves Katja the farm and the children. Katja quickly succeeds in gaining access to the sixteen-year-old Danni Lechner, which Britta Finkbeiner had not been able to do the entire time. Katja recognizes the problem that the girl is grappling with: Danni feels abandoned by everyone, because first her father died, then her grandmother left the farm and now she is alone with her fear that her mother could leave her forever. Inge Lechner's condition worsens after an operation to the extent that she falls into a coma.

In addition to these worries, there are financial difficulties. So Katja asks her husband, who is a lawyer, to provide legal security in order to avert an impending foreclosure. Katja also contacts the bank.

During Katja's work at the Lechnerhof, she comes into contact again with the veterinarian Mark Weber, who makes her advances. However, she makes it very clear to him that they can only become good friends. Nevertheless, he takes care of Katja, the farm and the animals almost every day and can even use a veterinary trick to prevent the foreclosure and seizure of the animals. Meanwhile Katja tries to get in touch with Therese Lechner, the grandmother of the children, and speaks to her conscience. She is successful and the sad woman finally turns back to her grandchildren.

While Katja is in spring and far from Munich, on a flying visit at home she finds out that her husband Peter is cheating on her. Although he asks his wife for forgiveness, she leaves Munich for good without further ado and settles in the spring to work there as a village helper. Since Mark Weber has some free rooms in his big house, Katja rents a room with him.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv came to the conclusion: “The problems in 'Forever Spring' are on a feel-good film level, but this film by Michael Karen, clearly conceived as the prelude to a series, is definitely one of the ZDF Sunday films welcome change. Also because it is not Christine Neubauer, but Simone Thomalla who puts on rubber boots and dungarees in the Free State of Bavaria. It was obviously the intention of the production companies not to rely too much on the white-blue color - and so Scharf & Co brought along Michaela May and Irm Hermann as original Bavarians, Marco Girnth and Götz Schubert, into this lively drama, the children's stuff and cancer , Humor and warm-heartedness - presented with a fresh soundtrack and airy pictures - get surprisingly well coordinated. And suddenly the world is all right again at the Schliersee. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm judged: “Borderline, the clichés the script brings up. But popular Thomalla gives everything. ”Conclusion:“ Heimatfilmchen for annoyed city dwellers! ”
