Dear me, if you can is a German television film from the spring film series by Michael Karen , which was first broadcast on ZDF on February 17, 2019 .

The film tells the story of the village helper Katja Baumann, played by Simone Thomalla , who supports families in emergency situations and at the same time tries to bring spring into people's hearts. It is the 20th film in a series that focuses on the people of the village called Spring .

action

Katja Baumann has a day off and wants to go on a trip with Philippa and Michelle Schmid. For their “girls day” they actually planned a kite flight, but on the mountain pasture a lovesick eagle thwarted their plan so that all flights were canceled and they had to reschedule. On the way back they meet Freddie Löffler, a student of Michelle, about whom she is worried because he was supposedly out of school due to illness, but now looks very healthy. He also has a drug history and Michelle is therefore worried about the actually very talented student. Without further ado, she wants to talk to his parents, who run a holiday farm with ponies. Accordingly, there is always work here and Freddie's father is very busy. He doesn't seem to care much about the teacher's worries and is more of the opinion that Freddie doesn't need a high school diploma to take over the farm here. The very next day, Hubert Löffler had such an argument with his son that he had a heart attack and had to be taken to the hospital. Accordingly, Freddie cannot go to school again because he first has to do the work for his father. For the near future, Katja is sent to the Löffler family as a village helper so that the farm can continue and Freddie no longer has to miss school. Because Katja is also worried about the young man, who is clearly having problems with the situation. He would like to do his Abitur, but his father keeps telling him that something like this is not necessary to run a farm. Due to the acute state of health, Freddie is determined to finish school and to be more at the side of the parents from now on. His mother currently has four children on the farm, who spend their riding holidays here and also have to be looked after. Katja notices that one of the girls is not getting along with the nutrition program given by her mother. Therefore, she encourages the child to listen to her body and, in this case, not to her mother. She arrives immediately and wants to take her daughter away from there

Oddly enough, Freddie's decision to drop out of school persists, even though Katja manages to convince his father not to put obstacles in his son's way any longer. In addition, she exposes his "scam" of always pushing his allegedly sick heart forward if he wants to get his way. Through Katja's good contact with the medical profession, she learns that Hubert Löffler's laboratory values are completely inconspicuous. But Katja can't really look forward to her success because she still can't get Freddie to do the Abitur. The boy Katja reveals his real reason: He is unhappily in love, but does not want to have to meet his beloved at school every day. He describes love as destructive and he just doesn't want to have to endure it any longer. Katja only understands him when she happens to meet Freddie and his girlfriend in the cinema one evening. It's his teacher, Michelle. Katja confronts Michelle and just can't believe it. Michelle's argument just like getting access to the boys and getting him off the drugs does not accept her. She looks for another school for Freddie and makes it clear to him that he cannot go to school in spring. Shortly afterwards she learns that Freddie left for the weekend with a travel bag. Since Michelle is not there either, Katja worries about looking for them. Finally, she succeeds in finding Michelle in a wellness hotel: accompanied by her mother, who took her out of the nursing home over the weekend. Katja is ashamed, but also relieved.

Philippa tries to help the kite operator with his eagle problem. In her opinion, the animal lacks company and so she tries to get a suitable female through a sanctuary for birds of prey. This succeeds and the eagle finally gives up after days of siege.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: “Because the subplots, in which animals and children often come into play, are original, because the (new) characters in the second row are increasingly important, because Cristino do Rego and Kristo Ferkic , even exceed the high expectations that have been placed on them, because even well-deserved actors like Johannes Herrschmann […], Johanna Klante […] or Caroline Ebner […] can get between the Baumann and the Filippa, Mark or all the other stories can be easily cut back and forth. "

Martin Seng from Oddsmeter.de was only moderately positive and wrote: Dear me, if you can "babbles like a calm brook, unspectacular and without large branches." but despite such a lack of quality one is entertained. The television film is suitable for a relaxed Sunday evening or as a sprinkling in the background, but there is nothing else that makes it stand out. And the picturesque mountain backdrop can still be so beautiful to look at. "
