The film tells the story of the village helper Katja Baumann, played by Simone Thomalla , who supports families in emergency situations and at the same time tries to bring spring into people's hearts. It is the thirteenth film in a series that focuses on the people of the community of communities called spring .

action

Single mother Anna Huber relies heavily on her fifteen-year-old daughter Amelie. When Anna was sleeping outside again, she fell down the stairs because she wanted to hurry to get to her children. So she has to go to the hospital and village helper Katja Baumann is asked to look after the three children while Anne is incapacitated.

Katja takes care of the three children and notices very quickly that Amelie is very depressed. As the eldest, she has taken responsibility for her two siblings, but the girl seems to have a secret with her. Since Amelie missed an exam due to her mother's accident, Katja tries to stand up for her and speaks to the teacher she met on a previous assignment . From her she learns that Amelie's performance has deteriorated drastically for a few weeks. Her father died early and her mother Anna has had bad luck with the men ever since. The two siblings Patrick and Lisa are from different fathers who do not care for them.

Katja first tries to find out what could be the reason for Amelie's decline in performance and she suspects that it is because of lovesickness. Katja's assumption becomes bitterly serious when Amelie disappears at night and Katja finds traces of a farewell letter to her siblings on her desk. She informs the police immediately and goes to look for the girl herself. She finds Amelie in the mountains on a very high bridge. Katja speaks to her and can get her to come home with her again. Amelie confesses to her that she is pregnant and does not know what to do because she cannot rely on her mother and that people only talk. Amalie trusts Katja to the point that she reveals to her that the boy next door, Ingo, is the father. But she also notices tensions between Amelie and her mother, who resents the girl for not taking care of the family enough and for having no plan. When she informs her mother about the pregnancy, she reacts just as carefree as Amelie had previously said. When Anne learns from Katja that Amelie wanted to take her own life, she realizes that she has to look after her family more and give up her dogged search for a father for the children.

Meanwhile, Amelie informs Ingo that he is going to be a father. Surprisingly, he stands by her and immediately informs his parents that he will marry Amelie at 18. Since her mother encourages her to have the child, Amelie also wants to carry it to term. For this Anne wants to give up her boyfriend, which Amelie doesn't want at all. Without further ado, she speaks to Martin, whom the three children don't seem to bother and who wants to stand by Anne and her whole family.

For Katja's daughter Kiki, her life changed with Peet's accident. She takes care of the paraplegic young man so competently that clinic director Gabriel wants to promote her medical talent and so he gives her the opportunity to study in Philadelphia . But that would mean that she would have to leave Peet to his fate, where she has just fallen in love with him. But Peet encourages her and so her decision is made to study medicine in the USA . For Katja, that means saying goodbye to her daughter. This is twice as hard for her, since there are also problems between Cem and her and there is some radio silence. Katja resents Cem for looking for her father without asking her, with whom she has had no contact since childhood.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv thinks: “In the twelfth 'Spring' episode 'Step into the Light', the air seemed to have been a bit out of breath.” But “[this time] the different storylines provide an atmospheric sequence with a meaningful one Song shorted, twice in the film for variety and some kind of emotional inventory. Conclusion: The 'Spring' series cannot be copied yet. But it also shows how important fine-tuning is and how quickly a moody entertainment film can turn into an annoying series clone if everything doesn't fit. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm only give this episode the "thumbs straight."
