Lyonpo Damcho Dorji ( Bhutanese བློན་ པོ་ དམ་ ཆོས་ རྡོ་ རྗེ ། Blonpo Damchos Rdorje ; born June 23, 1965 in Khailo, Gasa District , Bhutan ) has been Bhutan's Foreign Minister since August 2015.

Dorji attended Punakha High School and Sherubtse College in Trashigang . He obtained the degrees of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the Government Law College in Mumbai , India , and a Master of Laws (LLM) at the Georgetown Law Center of Georgetown University , Washington, DC , USA .

From 1991 to 2000 Dorji served as Deputy Registrar General at the High Court and from 2000 to 2006 as Judge ( Drangpon ) at Gelephu Court and the District Courts of Sarpang , Mongar , Wangdue Phodrang and Punakha . He also served as director of the Office of Leagal Affairs and was Bhutan's first attorney general from 2006 to 2007 .

In the first general election in 2008 , Dorji was elected as the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the constituency of Khatoe - Laya , Gasa. After the PDP won the second parliamentary elections in 2013 , he was appointed Minister of the Interior and Culture. In August 2015 he replaced Rinzin Dorje as Foreign Minister.

Dorji is married and has four children. He is an avid archer and gardener.
