Laya ( Dzongkha : ལ་ ཡ་ ) is one of 4 Gewogs (blocks) of the Dzongkhags Gasa in northwestern Bhutan . Laya Gewog is in turn divided into 5 Chiwogs (constituencies). About 950 people (as of the 2005 census, more recent estimates assume 1200 people) live in this mass on an area of ​​1066 km² in 7 villages or hamlets in about 150 households.

In addition to the Gewog administration, there are two schools, a station for basic health care, an office for the development of renewable natural resources (Renewable Natural Resource Extension Center), a branch of the national telephone company Bhutan Telecom and a guard office of the Jigme- Dorji National Park .

Religious institutions are five Buddhist temples, Tashi Lhakhang (Dratshang), Lungo Lhakhang, Ngen zow Lhakhang, Jangchub Choling Lhakhang and Pazhi Lhakhang as well as the Dung Gonpa monastery.
