Nothing against Papa is a German TV film in the spring film series by Michael Karen , which was first broadcast on ZDF on March 12, 2017 .
The film tells the story of the village helper Katja Baumann, played by Simone Thomalla , who supports families in emergency situations and at the same time tries to bring spring into people's hearts. It is the fourteenth film in a series that focuses on the people of the village called Spring .

Village helper Katja Baumann helps out in her role as a village helper at Sanne Bredemeyer's sailing school. Her son had untied the boats unnoticed and with all the excitement his heavily pregnant mother almost miscarried. Katja now not only takes care of the business, but also of the family, because Sanne Bredemeyer has to lie a lot and any further agitation should be avoided. When Katja tries to find out the reasons for Finn's act, she notices how much the boy misses his stepfather Matthias, who travels a lot for work and often has to leave his family alone. On closer inspection, Katja realizes that the man leads a double life and has a second relationship in the neighboring village of Rosenheim. In the face of this problem, she finally realizes what a treasure she has in her friend, Mark, who has so far only been friends.

The episode was produced by ZDF in collaboration with “Seven Dogs Filmproduktion” and UFA Fiction and broadcast as part of the ZDF “Herzkino” series. Contrary to all previous 13 spring episodes, for which Natalie Scharf always wrote the script, this time Martin Douven is responsible. The shooting took place from July 26th to August 23rd, 2016 in Bayrischzell and the surrounding area.

When it was first broadcast on March 12, 2017, Nothing against Papa was seen in Germany by 5.33 million viewers, which corresponded to a market share of 14.4 percent.
criticism
Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said, “The heart of the series remains […] the horizontally told private stories. The conflict resolution of the A-plot seems a bit more 'realistic' than usual with a not quite as bright happy ending. Otherwise Marco Girnth gets more to do again, the guest actors are consistently convincing and with Cristina do Rego new momentum could come into the series ... "
The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave this episode a "thumbs straight". They judged: "Simple dramaturgy, but played very sympathetically, politically correct and socially committed." Conclusion: "Love, suffering, lies in life - witty presented."
