Spring in White is a German television film from the spring television series by Oliver Schmitz . It was first broadcast on ZDF on December 14, 2014 .

The film tells the story of the village helper Katja Baumann, played by Simone Thomalla , who supports families in emergency situations and at the same time tries to bring spring into people's hearts. It is the seventh film in a series that focuses on a village called Spring , this time in a winter dress.

action

In the small, snow-covered Bavarian village of “Frühling”, the mountain farmer Karl Tischler suddenly has to go to the hospital. The village helper Katja Baumann should therefore take care of the farm and the animals. As she learns from the old man, he had just signed a lease, according to which he rented half of his house to a "big-headed man" who is due to arrive shortly. First Katja looks around the farm and first has to round up the cows that are grazing on the snow-covered alpine pasture. She was amazed to find a herd of Scottish highland cattle there. While she is still thinking about how to deal with this breed, the Liebherr family arrives. Katja immediately notices that the relationship between father, mother and daughter is very tense. Elke Liebherr only nags her husband Walter, who seems to be sicker than he admits. He keeps himself afloat with various medications and takes care of his wife and daughter Pia. However, the two of them are very annoyed by their primitive accommodation. Elke Liebherr confesses to Katja that her daughter is addicted to drugs and that the vacation in this wasteland should be a cold withdrawal . Katja has to make it clear to her that she is only responsible for the animals on the farm and not for the needs of the new tenants. Nevertheless, she cannot help but also tries to ensure that they manage to solve their marriage and family crisis.

The next day Katja meets Pia in the village, who walked the arduous way from the alpine pasture to the village all by herself. While she tries to talk to her and build trust, Pia's parents are annoyed with worry about their missing daughter. They also blame Katja for the fact that the moving company delivered the wrong furniture. A complaint is pointless, as there is usually no cell phone reception on the alpine pasture and an onset of snowstorms cuts the farm off from the outside world. Katja cannot go back either and has to endure the next few years together with the new tenants. The conflict between them is getting worse and luckily the village helper is there to defuse one or the other situation. For example, Pia confesses to her that she is not a drug addict at all, but her boyfriend. On the other hand, the parents accuse each other of mutual infidelity, which is even true in Elke Liebherr's case, whereas her husband hides a heart attack, which resulted in his secrets. He didn't want his wife's love that was once there to turn into pity. When the four of them spend days together, more and more normality and awareness of the essentials develop. The couple manage to talk and laugh again. Suddenly Walter Liebherr suffers another heart attack in the loneliness of the mountains and Katja tries to save the man's life with the means available. The attempt by Elke Liebherr to get help fails because of the still raging snow storm. Fortunately, the next day the sky clears up and a rescue helicopter can land and bring Walter Liebherr to the clinic. There, however, Katja has to find out that Karl Tischler has since passed away.

For the Liebherr family, their crisis has been overcome after they learned how quickly they were all in mortal danger. In Katja's private life, on the other hand, the relationship with the vet Mark Weber is still "on hold" because Mark's old friend Sophie is still with him. To Katja's sorrow, she announces that she wants to move in with Mark completely. In addition, she gets into a conflict of interest between her work and her own needs, so she seriously considers going back to Munich.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv comes to the conclusion: “'Spring in White', the seventh film from the ZDF 'Herzkino' series with Simone Thomalla as a village helper, uses Upper Bavaria's possibilities in winter for the first time: snowed in on an alpine hut! Unfortunately, despite the top-class guest actors, the execution of the film is not as well made as it was intended to be dramaturgically. The 'Spring' series, which is impressive in itself, gives away its themes by revealing them to a superficial contrasting dramaturgy. The social problems and family conflicts degenerate into mere plot fodder. In the end there is only a vague moral appeal for more honesty and a love of truth. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm give this episode a "thumbs straight". They judge: "Splashes rock solid."
