action

Marlene wants to get married. To do this she has to divorce her easy-going husband Paul, who has cheated on her permanently in the past 30 years of marriage and who she threw out of the shared apartment ten years ago, which she now wants to sell in the course of the divorce. Paul, who has just been kicked out by his girlfriend, moves back into the shared apartment at this point, and Marlene's problems begin.

She learns from her divorce lawyer that the separation of table and bed has never been documented and that there is therefore no official year of separation. All of Paul's ex-girlfriends also refuse to testify that Paul lived with you. And Paul insists on the official year of separation in accordance with the law. So Marlene's planned marriage to her boyfriend Alexander has to be postponed for twelve months, unless it is the case of "an unreasonable hardship". To prove this, Marlene moves back into the shared apartment. However, the (in) voluntary shared flat is developing differently than expected.

criticism

"'" Understanding women "is an intelligently crafted film fun with two wonderful actors."
