Young farmer Anna helps her parents Hans and Elisabeth with the work on their farm. Now Anna's parents want to retire and travel together. They want their daughter to take over the farm. To do this, however, she needs a man by her side. When Anna is confronted with this request by her parents, she is not enthusiastic and also not ready to compulsively look for a man. Anna's friend Katrin, on the other hand, welcomes this and, without asking Anna, sets up a profile on an Internet dating platform and prints posters of Anna biting a pear. Anna is stunned when she learns about what her friend is doing, but accepts requests from two men. Anna's parents also put pressure on: They suggest Ludwig. Anna finds him very likeable, but meanwhile she has her eye on Georg, a flight pilot, whom she met while selling fruit and vegetables. Nonetheless, he got engaged to Ludwig, since he was the only one who had mastered the farming trade.
But then the tide turns and it turns out that Anna's girlfriend and Ludwig love each other. So Anna still gets her flight pilot, but agrees with Ludwig - who has become a true friend to her - to run her parents' farm together. Anna's parents can now start their journey with peace of mind.

“In this romantic comedy, Felicitas Woll, as a modern farmer, has to sacrifice her true love to a farmer. Stephan Kampwirth as a down-to-earth high-flyer and Leo Reisinger as a musically gifted farmer do not make the choice easy for her. Sepp Schauer and Petra Kelling as parents hope that their seeds will come up. Heio von Stetten gives the modern Heimatfilm based on motifs by Utta Danella an Italian touch with an original guest appearance. "

The critic continued: “More and more ARD Friday films tell of single farmers. 'Von Kerlen und Kühen' by Sibylle Tafel, specialist in light things, also looks like the fiction counterpart to the RTL dome format 'Bauer sucht Frau' - with the opposite gender sign. This entertaining, beautifully played romantic comedy with Felicitas Woll & Eva-Maria von Friedl fits in well with the scope of the broadcast slot, but is quite entertaining. "
