action

Teresa summer, a woman in her 50s who leads the Bavarian foothills of the Alps , a small holiday guest , the Pension Sommer . She used to be a tour guide; out of love for her husband, she has put her own career and private desires on hold and has shown consideration for her husband and his job all her life. After more than 40 years of service as a weather warden at the highest German weather station of the German Meteorological Service, her husband Paul Sommer is forced to retire at the age of 65. Teresa would like to realize her lifelong dream with her retired husband Paul and travel to Mexico together .

The attractive, professionally revised Hamburg lawyer Christian Frey comes to the village as a holiday guest. He has made a deposit for renting a holiday home over the Internet . However, the holiday home does not exist at all; Christian fell victim to an internet fraudster. However, he finds acceptance into Teresa's pension. There he met Lena, Teresa's neighbor and best friend. Lena, originally from Tyrol , ended up in Upper Bavaria because of love . She has since separated from her husband, who, like Christian, only lived for his job. She raises her son Tim alone and works in the mayor's office in the afternoons as a secretary and as “his smartphone ”. A first dinner between Lena and Christian ends abruptly after Christian is constantly disturbed by calls on his cell phone .

Paul can't let go professionally. He wants to keep getting involved with tips and visits to the new weather warden Bernhard. Bernhard has to rudely signal to him that he is now retired and no longer responsible. In order to fill in the void, Paul had his own homepage created with Tim's help and set up a private weather station in Teresa's garden .

During a trip on the summer toboggan run , Teresa and Christian get closer. Teresa enjoys being perceived as a woman again. Christian gets an old VW bus and fulfills Teresa's wish to just drive off and enjoy life. A joint mountain hike and subsequent overnight stay in a VW bus at a lake leads Teresa to believe that she has fallen in love with Christian. She drives up to her husband Paul at the weather station on the Zugspitze and confesses to him that she has fallen in love with the much younger Christian. When she returns, however, she has to realize that Christian did not fall in love with her, but with Lena. Paul even considers breaking up after Teresa's confession.

Lena and Christian get together and plan a future together despite the distance between Hamburg and Bavaria; Tim admits that he was the one who tricked Christian into using the money to finally buy a new bike .

After a discussion, Teresa and Paul want to give their life together a new turn and try again together. With the old VW bus marked “Just retired” they go on vacation to South Tyrol together .

criticism

“'You, I don't like surprises,' says Paul ( Dietrich Hollinderbäumer ) to his overzealous wife Teresa (Michaela May). In a way, a lot has been said about the new ARD Friday evening monzette, which is based on a text by Utta Danella. The pre-Alps high-gloss picture sheet, professionally illuminated by director John Delbridge, does not offer any real surprises, but it does offer some common entanglements. "

- Review in: Heilbronner Voice

"Michaela May and Dietrich Hollinderbäumer act through a senior citizen romance that one could easily iron into ..."

- Criticism in: Mittelbayerische Zeitung

“Not very convincing actors, awkward dialogues, fizzling punchlines, a manageable story that is bursting with role clichés and an adviser mentality. The basic constellation of the story of 'Utta Danella - Sturm am Ehehimmel' is not bad. With films like this and such an antiquated image of women, ARD shouldn't be surprised that young audiences avoid the station! Friday film of the chilling kind. "

"Attempts chaotic (television) love comedy that juggles with little luck with the clichés of work-mad men and culturally obsessed women."
