action

Anna Maria Binz works as an assistant in the dental practice of Dr. Leander Winter in the tranquil Schliersee . She secretly loves her boss, but since the separation from his wife Franziska, who left him for a younger man, he has been closed to women. His affection is only for his dog. One day Leander receives a call from his daughter Emily, who is also a dentist. The two of them haven't seen each other for some time, so Leander is surprised when she informs him that she and her fiancé Roberto will turn up at his place on the same evening. The occasion is the couple's wedding, which is to take place the following weekend. In order not to overwhelm Leander, Emily does not tell him that she is pregnant. Instead, she tells him that Franziska and her boyfriend will also be coming to Schliersee for the wedding.

In order to look better in front of his ex-wife, Leander asks Anna Maria to pretend to be his girlfriend for the few days. Anna Maria agrees. The first meeting of Leander, Emily and Roberto is peaceful at first, but the mood suddenly deteriorates when Leander learns that Emily and Roberto want to live in Florence after their marriage and that Emily, contrary to Leander's long-term expectation, cannot take over his practice. The announcement that Emily is pregnant leads Leander to be vehemently against the marriage. Among other things, he fears that Emily will only marry because of the child. Anna Maria manages to smooth things over with difficulty and to dissuade Roberto from leaving immediately. The young couple recognized long ago that Anna Maria really loves Leander, a reason to stay.

Leander is meanwhile in panic because Franziska's arrival can be expected at any time. For this reason, he first drives to the next town with Anna Maria to get new clothes. To impress Franziska too, he spontaneously buys a new convertible. Franziska, however, comes to the wedding alone; her boyfriend has long since left her for a younger girl and so she could imagine going back to Leander. The latter, however, increasingly behaves as if Anna Maria is no longer there, even if at certain moments he practically forces the public display of the common “love happiness”, especially in front of Franziska. At the same time he tries with all means to prevent the marriage of Emily and Roberto and in the end even bribes the registrar that he refuses to get married because of a formal error. Anna Maria gets behind the plan and pushes through the wedding date. At the same time she speaks to Leander's conscience. He realizes that his daughter doesn't want to get married just for her child and accepts the planned wedding. While eating together, he apologizes to Emily and Roberto and also to Anna Maria, who is really just his assistant and who played his lover only for his sake. Anna Maria leaves the restaurant sad. The next day she quits the practice and retires to her sister in a mountain restaurant, where she begins to work as a waitress. Only gradually does Leander realize that Anna Maria was more than just his assistant to him. He misses her and even his ex-wife realizes that he loves her and that Anna Maria has always loved him too. Over time Leander overcomes his fear of heights and takes the elevator to the mountain restaurant, where he confesses his love to Anna Maria. You will now attend Emily and Roberto's wedding as planned - no longer as a posed, but as a real couple with wedding plans.

criticism

For the service-movie was utta danella - Who kisses the Doc? a "shallow (television) tabloid comedy that sells turbulence as a dubious means of good entertainment."

TV Spielfilm gave the film a medium rating (thumbs to the side) and said: “ Walter Matthau did the samewith Ingrid Bergman ( ' The Cactus Blossom ' ) and Adam Sandler with Jennifer Aniston ( ' My invented wife ' ) - recycled goods for narrow demands . "

Tilmann P. Gangloff came to a different conclusion for Tittelbach.tv : “The opening credits, the music and above all the chilling title 'Who kisses the Doc?' let fear the worst. But then this film adaptation of a novel by Utta Danella turns out to be an imaginative and varied romance with lovably designed, excellently played main characters and really good dialogues (book: Marcus Hertneck). And Saskia Vester & Peter Sattmann are not under-challenged! "
