Supporting cast:

Lerchenberg is a satirical sitcom produced for the 50th birthday of ZDF with Sascha Hehn in a leading role. The series was broadcast on March 28, 2013 on ZDFneo and from April 5, 2013 on ZDF. It plays largely in the ZDF broadcasting center in the Mainz district of Lerchenberg . According to the ZDF, the series consists largely of self-deprecating humor . Real people, references and locations are mixed up with fictitious and pointed components. Not only the ZDF itself, but also the entire television world should be taken into account.

content

The focus of the action is the young ZDF editor Billie, who wants to develop innovative productions for the station. Her own film project is about to be realized, but her supervisor Dr. Wolter hands it over to the volunteer Judith and gives Billie a new task: She should enable the aged and financially troubled ZDF series star Sascha Hehn to make a comeback with a new TV show . At first she can't do anything with the former TV star and tries to get the job done as quickly as possible, which is more difficult than expected.

background

The series was developed and designed by Felix Binder , Maren Lüthje and Florian Schneider in collaboration with the TV laboratory Quantum of the ZDF junior editorial team Das kleine Fernsehspiel for ZDF. It was produced in cooperation with ZDFneo , the Zentralredaktion Neue Medien and the Munich production company lüthje schneider Hörl | FILM . Felix Binder was in charge of the direction, Katharina Dufner and Milena Bonse were responsible for the editorial work, and the scripts were by Felix Binder, Vivien Hoppe , Niels Holle and Marc O. Seng .

The first two episodes were produced in 2011 under strict secrecy. Even ZDF employees who work in the broadcasting center on Lerchenberg did not know anything about the production. It was not until November 18, 2012 that the magazine Der Spiegel reported that production would begin. On November 20, 2012, ZDF confirmed the report and announced the shooting of episodes 3 and 4 in November and December 2012.

The series has several parallels to the American sitcom 30 Rock . Again, the location is the Rockefeller Center , the headquarters of the broadcasting center of the broadcasting station NBC . As early as 1982, ZDF broadcast the film satire Zwei Tote on the station and Don Carlos on PoGl , in which a fictional public television company is parodied. However, the film could not be shot in the ZDF rooms because the ZDF did not have a central broadcasting center at that time (the broadcasting center Lerchenberg was still under construction).

Even before the first episode was broadcast, it became known that Sascha Hehn had taken on a leading role in the ZDF series Das Traumschiff and was thus already planning a real comeback.

A bonus to the series is the mockumentary "Laughing is only painted on" - from the diary of a Mainzel male : "Billie" has to slip into the role of lazy Anton because of the lack of success as a Mainzel male , her "basic training" is shown and those involved are interviewed. The fictional documentary takes place a little after the middle of the fourth episode of Lerchenberg, because “Billie” is already appearing there as the Mainzelmännchen at Carnival , which the documentary describes as her first appearance.

The series was nominated on January 29, 2014 in the category "Entertainment" for the Grimme Prize .

On February 18, 2014, ZDF extended the series by another season with four episodes. The shooting took place in October and November 2014.

publication

The premiere of the first four episodes was on March 28, 2013. 22:45 to ZDFneo . On 5 and 12 April 2013 two double episodes were at 23 o'clock in each ZDF sent. On the day of the first broadcast on ZDF, the four episodes were released on DVD.

The first television broadcast of the first episode of the second season (episode 5) took place on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11 p.m. on ZDF. Episodes 6, 7 and 8 were broadcast on the following Monday, September 21, from 00:10.
