Gundula Gause-Schmitz (born April 30, 1965 in Berlin ) is a German news presenter on ZDF .

Life

Gundula Gause lived in Mainz from 1975 and did her A-levels at the Mainz high school in Gonsenheim, today's Otto Schott high school . She studied political science , medieval and modern history and journalism at the universities of Paris and Mainz . In 1997 she completed her studies with a Magistra Artium ; At the same time, she moderated on private radio and on Sat.1 . She has been the ZDF editor and news anchor of today since 1989 , she moderated the ZDF magazine Neighbors and the ZDF morning magazine(1992-1993). Gundula Gause has been a co-presenter in heute-journal since February 8, 1993 .

Gundula Gause lives in Mainz and is a devout Protestant Christian. “My God is the God of charity,” she says. Since 2016 she has also appeared in public as a Reformation ambassador for the Evangelical Church in Germany on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation . Gause has been involved in Africa Day of the Catholic mission organization missio since 2002 . She is also an ambassador for the Schau hin!   Gause has been married to the Mainz dentist and FDP politician Peter Schmitz since 1997 , with whom she has two children. Peter Schmitz also brings a son from his first marriage. In the program Kölner Treff on September 9, 2017, Gundula Gause stated that she was using the double name Gause-Schmitz.

In the German feature film Löwenzahn - Die Reise ins Abenteuer , which was produced in 2005 for the 25th anniversary of the television series Löwenzahn , Gundula Gause played the lady of the castle.

Furthermore, she has a cameo appearance as a newscaster in the dandelion episode "Endlessly Durable - When Neighbors Become Friends" (2020).
