Liebestod is a German television film by Jörg Grünler from 2007. It is the 14th film in the ZDF crime series Das Duo .

In their third joint case, Ahrens and Hertz have to deal with the murder of Peter Claussen, a participant in a radio dating show.

action

Marion Ahrens and Clara Hertz are investigating the death of small business owner Peter Claussen, who was found stabbed to death in his car on the beach in Travemünde . Although Claussen was married and had two children, there are indications that he was not faithful to his wife. After two cell phones are found on him and the call lists are analyzed from them, the investigators take it to a local station. Claussen had regularly taken part in a radio dating show there under a false name, which apparently brought him into contact with his sexual partners. Ahrens and Hertz are now reviewing the women Claussen had recently met. The dating participant Maritta Weber, who hoped for a stable relationship from Claussen and not just an anonymous adventure, is suspected. After lengthy interrogation, she admits that she had sex with him on the day she died, but that she did not kill him. After the investigators' research shows that two of her sexual partners from previous years died relatively young, she remains the main suspect. A further forensic medical examination of these deaths relieves Maritta Weber, however, since it was clearly a natural death of the men. Another suspect is Claussen's friend Olaf Spohr, who on the one hand suffered from his moods as a company partner who was not entirely equal and on the other hand is in love with Claussen's wife Anja. Despite sufficient motives of the suspect, the investigators doubt his guilt. Likewise, no sufficient suspicion can be established against the victim's wife.

Detective assistant Frank Düblin has a completely different theory. He thinks it is possible that the "makers" of the radio dating show could have built a "business" for themselves. While radio announcer Malte Holk is selecting suitable, financially strong candidates, his pretty colleague Kerstin Steiner may have met with them to “take them out”. Clara Hertz thinks this is very far-fetched, but also not entirely absurd and so she contacts the radio station in order to allegedly bring herself into the show as a contact seeker. In doing so, she discovered that Kerstin Steiner had worked for a radio station in Rostock before she came to Lübeck and had already dealt with Claussen there. Further research reveals that Kerstin Steiner had a relationship with Claussen at the time and was even pregnant by him. She had lost the child and to this day Claussen had not forgiven him for not caring any further. After she met him again here in Lübeck, the old wounds broke open again and she decided to take revenge. Although Kerstin Steiner denies it for a long time, Clara Hertz can persuade her to confess in the end.

In her private life, Marion Ahrens still has problems with her husband Viktor, who is already keeping secrets from her. So she suspects that once again he couldn't resist the temptation to gamble . This leads to another crisis of confidence in their marriage. After Marion overhears her husband's conversation, she even suspects that he is meeting with another woman and is cheating on her. In the end, her husband's frequent solo trips turn out to be harmless, because he had been preparing her silver wedding anniversary in the last few weeks and now very much surprised his wife with it.

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv said about this episode: “With Lisa Martinek as the new partner for Charlotte Schwab, the Saturday crime series 'Das Duo' has won enormously. In her second case too [(Note: Gangloff is wrong, it is already the third case.)] 'Liebestod' she brings speed and humor to the stories from Lübeck. They have to solve the death of a womanizer. Good, solid utility thriller, staged in a pleasantly reserved manner by Jörg Grünler. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and found that the film "leads to a gloomy psychodrama"
