Sold and betrayed is a German television film by Marcus Weiler from 2008. It is the 15th film in the ZDF crime film series Das Duo .

In their fourth joint case, Ahrens and Hertz investigate the murder of hotelier Mundorf.

action

The hotel operator Kaspar Mundorf is shot in the underground car park of his hotel. Marion Ahrens and Clara Hertz are investigating the case. You know that Mundorf was on the verge of selling his property to the right-wing publisher Dreesen, which had previously provoked great opposition from the population. For Anna Mundorf this murder is the second hard blow of fate, because she has just lost one of her daughters after a long illness. Ahrens and Hertz have the impression that the family is deeply divided. The son Christian Mundorf wants the sale to Dreesen to be completed as soon as possible so that the family can settle their debts. Daughter Jule Mundorf advocates the sale to the city in order to give in to the public, or even not to accept the inheritance, so that the property is left to the banks. Anna Mundorf is stuck in her grief for her daughter and husband, but wants to accept the inheritance at all costs and plans to sell the hotel to the city.

Ahrens and Hertz tries to find out why Kaspar Mundorf absolutely wanted to sell to Dreesen, who acts as a front man for the Nazi Rudolf Markowitz and Mundorf thereby incurs public displeasure. The reason is allegedly that the hotel owner did not get on well with the city because he felt harassed by constant government demands. His widow now sees it completely differently and under no circumstances wants to see the hotel as a new training center for the neo-Nazis and therefore prefers to give preference to the city. Her son Christian makes serious accusations for this. Since he is completely under the influence of Dreesen and Markowitz, he really wants them not to be disappointed in him and wants to influence sales accordingly.

The investigations of the commissioners go in all directions. Both the family members, each of whom had reason enough to kill the unloved head of the family, and the potential buyers of the hotel are thoroughly checked. Discrepancies in the agreed sales price would be a motive for murder for the investigators, although they also consider extortion to be possible. Ahrens and Hertz hope that the victim's cell phone will provide information that has disappeared since the crime. Whoever owns it could be the culprit. Before they can investigate further in this direction, however, Jule Mundorf is raped by neo-Nazis in order to get her mother to sell to Dreesen.

After a long search in the victim's computer, detective assistant Frank Düblin finds a hidden file containing a cell phone photo that shows his son kissing Oliver Dreesen. For Ahrens and Hertz it is clear that Dreesen is the culprit and was actually blackmailed by Mundorf, who had driven up the purchase price. The inspectors want to arrest Dreesen and find him in the hotel talking to Anna Mundorf, who shows willingness to sell due to the violence against her daughter. When Dreesen is arrested, Christian unexpectedly storms up to him and rams a knife in his stomach. He had overheard him telling his mother that his relationship with him was just a necessary "sacrifice". Christian Mundorf was arrested and the injured Oliver Dreesen was taken to a police hospital.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said about this episode: “They are always solid and their investigative methods do Lübeck all credit.” “The dramatic final chord finally delivers what the intense opening sequence with Paula Kalenberg and the always convincing Corinna Harfouch promises. As a family drama, 'Das Duo' knows how to convince, but despite hormonal problems, the commissioners are a little too intentionally moody for the great tragedy of the case. "

Kino.de found: “With 'Sold and betrayed', director Marcus Weiler presents his first work for ZDF after highly acclaimed films in the ARD series ' K3 '.” “With 'Das Duo' he puts less tension on it than on the intense defoliation of the case. "

Manuel Weis atquotemeter.de assessed: “The clarification of the case is cleverly chosen, coherent and rounds off what happened before. In addition, the creators have succeeded in approaching the delicate topic of 'Nazis in Germany' so carefully that no one feels trodden on - especially because they largely refrained from using the usual clichés. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and found the film to offer “extremely many tracks” that were “cleverly laid out”.
