Falsche Träume is a German television film by Thomas Jauch from 2004. It is the seventh film in the ZDF crime film series Das Duo .
action
The two inspectors Lizzy Krüger and Marion Ahrens are investigating the death of the au pair girl Natascha. The nineteen-year-old was found dead in the Elbe-Trave Canal and, as the autopsy revealed, was three months pregnant. She worked for the Kunert family, whose little daughter she supervised. At first glance, the family is intact, but the investigators soon notice that there is no ideal world behind the beautiful facade. The mother of the wife lives with the Kunerts, who is very dominant and still wants to give instructions to her daughter Manuela. Since she herself was poor all her life, it is extremely important to her that Manuela accepts her fate, is loyal to her husband and forgives him for possible wrongdoing.
Krüger and Ahrens think Jürgen Kunert is the father of Natscha's child and suspect a possible motive for the crime. A gene test should provide clarity about this. It turns out that stepson Nico is the child's father. Jürgen Kunert, on the other hand, is unable to procreate. So the little daughter Anna cannot be from him and the inspectors uncover a well-kept secret of the family. The patient Manuela had an affair with the showman Chris Liebermann six years ago and Anna is his child. When Jürgen Kunert finds out, a world collapses for him. Shortly afterwards, Chris, who is in town and wanted to meet Manuela again, is electrocuted. Krüger and Ahrens do not rule out a homicide offense. Forensic technology was able to find footprints and soil at the scene that can only come from the perpetrator. Since this is a special raised bog peat with which gardeners cultivate carnivorous plants , this trace leads to Manuela Kunert's mother Lisbeth Wernstedt. She tried by all means to maintain the appearance of the ideal world of her family. When she noticed Natasha's pregnancy, she suspected that her son-in-law was the father, which would have meant the end of her daughter's marriage. Natascha fell fatally in the fight, which Lisbeth Wernstedt wanted to disguise as an accident. When Chris Liebermann turned up, she saw it as the next threat and got him out of the way too.

criticism
The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave it a medium rating (thumbs to the side) and found: “Simple-minded dialogues and clichéd actors diminish the quite exciting perpetrator rates.” As an overall conclusion they drew: “Nicely constructed, but moderately played”.
