Echte Kerle is a German television film by Matthias Tiefenbacher from 2008. It is the 16th film in the ZDF crime series Das Duo .

Professor Karl-Heinz Lampert, a teacher of German and history, is found dead in his house. The first traces point to spontaneous manslaughter with a candlestick, but the meticulous removal of any traces that could suggest the perpetrator does not really fit into the picture. After the autopsy, it turns out that the blow was not the actual cause of death, but that the victim was strangled.

Marion Ahrens and Clara Hertz investigate the school where Lampert had worked. The Russian-German Wera Korwin, who was with him shortly before Lampert's death and wanted to talk to her teacher again because of an unfair grade, has a special motive. However, Commissioner Ahrends does not consider it very likely that Wera has the strength to have carried out the act as it happened. Wera's family environment is just as problematic as the situation in her school. Violence seems to prevail everywhere and the law of the stronger. Wera's mother has therefore separated from her husband, which the daughter also suffers. After thorough interrogation, Wera admitted to having defended himself against Lampert when he became intrusive.

In addition to the suspicion against Wera, Ahrens and Hertz investigate a possible motive for murder by Franziska Lampert. The marriage was reportedly not very happy and her husband's stalking of his students has been a burden on the marriage for a long time. So she started a relationship with Bernd Gundermann, an ambitious work colleague of her husband. The fact that Lampert tolerated this affair does not appear plausible to the commissioners, but nevertheless possible. On the other hand, there are indications against Wera's friend Manuel, who is, however, the half-brother of Clara Hertz and who thus gets into a conflict of interests. Since he assures her that he has done nothing to Lampert, that is sufficient for her at first. But soon you and Marion Ahrens have doubts. So they want to talk to Wera again, but they don't meet her at home, but with their father, who always looked after his daughter. Filipp Korwin also lives in Lübeck and according to his ex-wife he is "sick in the head". That's why she'd broken up with him before anything bad happened. While the inspectors are on their way to see Filipp Korwin, a dispute escalates between him and Manuel, who, together with Wera, wanted to seek refuge with him. Manuel tells him on the head that he killed the teacher who wanted to get too close to his daughter, just as he would stand against him now. The slightly quick-tempered Korwin then threatens Manuel with a knife and can be induced to give in when his daughter turns away from her father, disappointed. He is arrested and taken away.

The blame is indirectly put on the children with a migration background who come to school with butterfly knives. It may well be that in reality this is the case in some cases. But in "'Echte Kerle'" it is excessively exaggerated. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave it the best possible rating (thumbs up) and said it was “rich in feint and multifaceted”.
