action

“Growing up is worse than anything our parents warned us about. It doesn't come overnight, but in small bursts ... "

16-year-old Nicole, who looks rather inconspicuous with her old-fashioned clothes and horn-rimmed glasses, is a smart and bright girl. But so far no boy has been able to discover this side of Nicole. Nicole meets Daniel Winter at a party and falls in love for the first time. Fortunately for her, he is also new to her class because he had to change schools because of his ex-girlfriend.

Daniel, who is not a big lamp at school and is terrified of exams, gratefully accepts Nicole's tutoring offer after a short hesitation. Already at the first lesson there is a kiss between the two, which is abruptly interrupted by Nicole's mother Sonja Maibach. But the further happiness of the two also seems to be in danger. On the one hand, there is Nicole's mother, who has since betrayed Nicole's father and her ex-husband Sven with another woman, is more than suspicious of the opposite sex. She runs a loyalty testing agency called In Flagranti and of course immediately makes it her business to spy on Daniel, too, after she predicted that Nicole would sooner or later lie or cheat on her. Father Sven, on the other hand, campaigns for young love happiness, of course also to be able to wipe out his ex-wife. He unsuccessfully runs a dating agency for seniors.

Nicole's mother immediately invited Daniel to dinner on the first evening in order to be able to hear him out and reveal embarrassments about Nicole. Daniel, who has so far failed the driver's license test because of his test anxiety, claims to be in possession of the driver's license out of sheer desperation. When Daniel almost knocks Nicole over in another driving test, Nicole's distrust of Daniel increases. Daniel, incited by Sven, apologizes with a huge bouquet of roses to Nicole, but has to endure beatings with Sonja's coat hanger, as she considers the nocturnal intruder to be a burglar. To make matters worse, Sonja puts her colleague Leslie on Daniel after seeing him with his ex-girlfriend Mandy. Since the video recording of the meeting with Leslie is overdone at the crucial point, Nicole believes that Daniel would have cheated on her with this. The two had planned their first time in his apartment in the absence of Nicole's father. But Sven wanted to take Daniel away with some alcohol, so that when Nicole arrives at the apartment, angry and disappointed because of Leslie, he is drunk. Nicole leaves the apartment even angrier and doesn't want anything more to do with Daniel. She seeks consolation from Caro, her best friend. But she also has feelings for Nicole and kisses her so that Nicole now has no more refuge.

Nicole's little sister Jule also has problems after hearing from her father that she was an accident. So she runs off to the circus and the parents accuse each other again. At school, Daniel now has to take his biology exam, for which he previously worked with Nicole. He talks about the courtship behavior of peacocks and transfers this to his and Nicole's relationship in such a way that they forgive him after his lecture. The two go up a tower together, where they experience their first time together. The next day is Daniel's birthday and Nicole wants to surprise him in his father's cactus nursery. But when she enters the nursery and gets into Sir Henry , an old Mercedes minibus that Daniel inherited from his grandfather, with her picnic basket , she finds Mandy, Daniel's ex-girlfriend, whom Daniel previously took before Nicole as his cousin issued, half-naked before. Nicole runs away furiously, wishing that yesterday had never happened. Again the two do not speak a word to each other, not even when Daniel managed the transfer thanks to his peacock lecture. Nicole's mother, who has since discovered that Daniel has rejected Leslie and is the first of 417 men to remain loyal, wants to apologize to Nicole and gives her her blessing on the relationship. She also sticks the photo of the two torn by Nicole back together as a gesture of reparation. Initially, Nicole doesn't want to hear anything from Daniel. But Caro can solve this problem, too, after she has made up with Nicole after her unsuccessful attacking attempt. She encourages Nicole and proves that nothing is going on between Daniel and Mandy by kissing Mandy in front of the assembled school class.

Nicole grabs her bike and races after Daniel, who is now on his way to Spain to kite. With great difficulty she manages to jump into the minibus with him, and the two travel happily to Spain together.

“In fact, the first time you feel a little different, a little bit more grown up. But grown up in a good sense: independent, free ... and still there are a thousand small hurdles on the route. But then nothing really bad comes up, just getting older. "

The relationship between Nicole's parents Sonja and Sven also seems to have a happy ending. After Sven's old convertible, in which Jule was also conceived, has to be scrapped, the two find each other. Sonja gives up her loyalty test agency and joins Sven's senior dating agency.
