Ludovica "Louisa" Ghijs (born March 19, 1902 in Brussels , Belgium , † July 18, 1985 in Bavaria , Germany ) was a Belgian operetta singer and actress . The artist, also known under the names Wiske Ghijs and Wiesje Ghijs, was married to the actor and singer Johannes Heesters from 1930 until her death in 1985 .

Life

Ghijs was already on stage at the age of twelve. After her acting training at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerp , she became known as an operetta singer in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In the late 1920s Ghijs was briefly in a relationship with the writer Herman de Man . From 1927 she appeared with Johan Boskamp's Rotterdam theater group , including in the play De zwarte diamant . From October 1927 she played in the Dutch theater group of Jacques van Bijlevelt .

In 1928 Ghijs met the Dutch actor and singer Johannes Heesters. She performed with him repeatedly in the following years, including at the Carré Theater in Amsterdam in the operetta Blauwe Mantel .

This was followed by leading roles in productions of Walter Kollos Three Poor Little Girls (1928), Leo Falls The Fidele Farmer (1929) and Sidney Jones ' Die Geisha (1930).

In 1935 she played a minor supporting role at the side of her husband in the film De vier Mullers . The following year the couple moved to Germany and lived in Berlin. Ghijs then withdrew into private life.

His marriage to Heesters in 1930 has two daughters, the pianist Louise Paula 'Wiesje' Herold-Heesters (* 1931) and the actress Nicole Heesters (* 1937). Actress Saskia Fischer is one of her grandchildren .
