Donata Höffer (born September 29, 1949 in Berlin ) is a German actress and singer .

After completing secondary school, she attended the Max Reinhardt School for Drama from 1966 to 1968 , today the University of the Arts. As a pianist and violinist, she founded a trio in 1967 dedicated to free jazz ; In 1968 she performed at the Total Music Meeting with John McLaughlin , Peter Broetzmann, Peter Kowald and John Stevens . In 1969 she played at the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen as Lena in Leonce and Lena and in the same year received an engagement at the Wuppertal theaters that lasted until 1971 . After that she performed at various theaters, especially in Berlin. From 1975 to 1980 she was part of the ensemble of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. In 1982 and 1984 she played at the Bremen Theater , after which she appeared in 1985 at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater and the Thalia Theater .

From the beginning Donata Höffer worked extensively for television and appeared in more than 50 feature films. She was also involved in numerous radio plays, features and audio books. She was also active as a singer. Her repertoire includes the songs of the Chilean Víctor Jara , the Greek Mikis Theodorakis , whose Canto General she sang in Hamburg in 1987 under the direction of Irmgard Schleier, as well as settings by the poets Bertolt Brecht , Walter Mehring and Kurt Tucholsky . From 1982 she also performed her own programs, often together with her husband Peter Franke. In later years she devoted herself increasingly to the classical repertoire. She worked with the Israeli pianist Yarden Lapid on songs by Ludwig van Beethoven , Antonín Dvořák and Johannes Brahms for concerts in Jerusalem, Berlin and Hamburg.

From 1977 to 1987 she was married to Norbert A. Friedländer , with whom she has three sons. She was married to the actor and singer Peter Franke since 1987 . They have a daughter together. Donata Höffer has had a second residence in Jerusalem since 2010 and lives in Hamburg and Herdwangen-Schönach .
