The fourth power is a feature film by the German director and screenwriter Dennis Gansel . The name alludes to the Fourth Estate , which describes the power of the press.
action
The film tells the story of Paul Jensen, who as a journalist in Moscow is supposed to bring fresh impulses to the Russian tabloid magazine Москвa Мaтч ( Eng . "Moscow Match / Spiel"). At first everything goes well, because he falls in love with the beautiful Katja, who makes him print a politically motivated obituary in his magazine.
This has profound consequences for Paul's life - he loses his love in a bomb attack and is then charged with aiding and abetting terrorism. Landed in the notorious Russian prison, Paul must not only try to escape, but also find a way to restore his reputation. In prison, his Chechen fellow inmate Aslan told him that Jensen's father, who was also a journalist, had done extensive research on the Chechnya war , but that the material was probably never published.
Jensen escapes from prison and gets his father's footage; This shows that attacks allegedly committed by Chechens were actually organized by the Russian secret service.
