Nothing is forgotten is a German television film from 2007.

action

The film begins with a flashback. The teenage tennis teacher Olaf Stahmann raped and murdered his twelve-year-old student. Eight years later he was released from juvenile detention and moved to the village where the girl's family now lives. The Wagners tried to rearrange their lives. Kai Wagner successfully runs a company. However, Maria Wagner was no longer able to work as a teacher. She now leads the parish church choir. The little daughter Lili, who was born after the murder of the first daughter, is the most important thing in the family. They are shocked to find out that Olaf Stahmann has rented an apartment in the village. They only feel threatened by his presence. However, Olaf has served his sentence and the police only provide commissioner Jan Bösche, who is about to retire, as a guard to protect the family. Bösche contacts Olaf to persuade him to leave the village again. The deeply disturbed young man, however, would like to get in touch with the Wagner family to ask for their forgiveness. Kai Wagner strictly refuses. Olaf, on the other hand, is treated like a leper by the village youth and is badly beaten. The boy lives alone in his apartment, abandoned by his family. The mother committed suicide after the murder, the father lives and works in Paris. He doesn't want any contact with his son. Only sister Sabine visits her released brother. But even she cannot get close to the emotionally disturbed Olaf.

Olaf sneaks around the house of the Wagner family to get in touch with them. The family's psychological stress is growing. When the little daughter Lili suddenly disappears, the situation escalates. Lili meets Olaf, who tells her about her sister. Her parents hadn't told her that she had a sister who was murdered. Mother Maria now decides to get in touch with Olaf, but he has since been badly beaten by the village youth. The Wagners find him in a nearby barn. Olaf can only just whisper his apology. Seriously injured, he was admitted to hospital, where he died. The family finds themselves at the grave of their murdered daughter and also regains the trust of their lied little daughter Lili.

Reviews

  • Lexicon of international film : Dramatic television film that uses a virulent discussion to put the question of perpetrator-victim relationships up for debate, which largely avoids one-sidedness and also gives the victim family the chance to reconsider their role in grief to be able to face the future life.
